Great American Conference Loads Up On Local Talent

Arkansas, Oklahoma Division II schools taking advantage of talent rich area.

The Great American Conference is littered with players from Northwest Arkansas and the river valley.

Henderson State is the league’s defending champion and they added a pair of local products in Heritage’s Forrest Johnson and Har-Ber’s Peyton Squires. Across the street in Arkadelphia, Ouachita Baptist loaded up on talent from Northwest Arkansas. Jed Beach of West Fork, Jacob Engel of Siloam Springs, twin brothers Clay and Jay Patrick of Springdale and Elijah Ramsey are all heading to Arkadelphia to play for the Tigers.

A little farther north in the state, Harding picked up both Southside’s Clayton Pankey and Jared Thurman from Fayetteville. UA-Monticello added Van Buren wide receiver Wacey Connor along with 11 mid-year transfers.

Arkansas Tech stocked piled players from the Natural state as they inked 16 players from inside the borders. Southside running back David Price leads the list that also includes Alma’s Gage Jensen, Lamar’s Hayden Carlton and Mena’s Malachi McGee.

Northwest Oklahoma State reached across the panhandle state to grab Sallisaw’s Devin Harriman. The linebacker had 357 career tackles for the Black Diamonds.
