A child protection center in Benton County received more than $40,000 in donations from four rotary clubs at a special event Wednesday attended by officials from Rogers, Bentonville and Bella Vista.

The Bentonville Noon Rotary Club, Bentonville/Bella Vista Daybreak Rotary Club, Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club and Rogers Early Risers Rotary Club donated a total of $44,500 to NorthWest Arkansas Community College’s Southern Region National Child Protection Training Center.

The community college’s training center is in transformation, with its building most recently dedicated to oncology before the training center moved in, according to a news release from NorthWest Arkansas Community College. The donations will go toward a $3 million campaign devoted to the transformation.

“NorthWest Arkansas Community College has been the Southern Region location for the national center since 2010 and, even without dedicated lab facilities, has trained thousands of child protection students and professionals from its 16-state service area,” according to the release.

The newly-renovated building will feature a two-story mock home, mock courtrooms, child forensic rooms, as well as several other training spaces. The building will be used to train child abuse professionals, according to the community college.
