After Being Picked to Win SEC, Diamond Hogs Say World Series More Important
As if there is not enough pressure on the Diamond Hogs this season, here come more expectations. The coaches around the SEC have voted, and they say the Hogs are going to win the conference.
That vote of confidence hasn’t happened in a while. The last time Arkansas won the SEC was 2004.
The Razorbacks finished with 90 points overall, 15 points more than LSU, which had 75 points to finish second.
“The conference is loaded again,” said junior pitcher Ryne Stanek. “So going out there and trying to fight against them every day, you try to win as many as you can and roll from there.”
Last year Arkansas had massive disappointment in the SEC, being bounced out of the conference tournament in the first round. But then they that miraculous run to the College World Series. So what does the team prefer this season? How important is winning the SEC to them in their overall goals?
“Not many people remember who won the SEC tournament last year,” said senior outfielder Matt Vinson. “It’s all about the College World Series. The SEC Tournament is important but it’s not our long-term goal.”
Mississippi State won the SEC Tournament last year. They failed to make it past the first regional.
“As long as we get into the NCAA Tournament, then like last year, we’re a whole different team once the tournament starts,” said junior pitcher Brandon Moore.
This year they’re hoping they’re a different team the entire season.
