Hogs Get First Road Win; 83-75 Over Auburn
The streak is finally over. Arkansas basketball has won a game on the road. The Hogs took down Auburn 83-75 Wednesday night giving them their first road win in nine tries this season.
This is the first time in 25 games they have scored 80 or more points away from their home state.
Arkansas (15-9 overall) hit timely three pointers in the second half, making nine total in the game.
BJ Young led all scores with 25 points. Marshawn Powell added 20. Rickey Scott and Mardracus Wade each contributed 11 points.
“This was a highly contested game where two teams really wanted to get a win,” Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson said. “Having Marshawn out there really helped us and BJ showed us what he is capable of. It was a good win, but hopefully it is just a start for them.”
After being down by two at halftime, the Hogs outscored Auburn 50-40 in the second half.
Arkansas took a big lead in the first half, but Auburn made a run to end the frame to take a two-point lead. The Hogs then went on a 9-0 run and led by as many as 12 points midway through the second half.
The Hogs now move to 6-5 in the SEC and 6th place in the conference.
A big match up looms Saturday, 3:00pm against Missouri at home, with The Hogs’ NCAA Tournament chances still alive.
