University of Arkansas football player Austin Flynn was booked into jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after being stopped in Fayetteville at 1:48 a.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 13), according to a preliminary arrest report.
The 6-foot-5, 260 pound Flynn transferred from Los Angeles Harbor College last spring and appeared in all 12 games for the Razorbacks in 2012. A defensive end, the 22-year-old Flynn recorded 10 tackles on the season.
Coach Bret Bielema said in a statement, “I will review the matter and it will be handled swiftly and decisively. Our student athletes will understand there will be discipline in our program and will learn the responsibility they have in representing Arkansas the right way.”
At the Washington County Detention Center where he was booked, Flynn provided a breath sample and was shown to have a blood-alcohol concentration of .14 percent, according to the report. The legal limit in Arkansas is .08.

The Fayetteville officer who wrote the arrest report, Cpl. J. Jennings, said Flynn was estimated to be driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone while traveling east on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near College Avenue.
Flynn was driving a black Chevrolet Camaro with California license plates, the report states.
The report states Flynn then traveled east onto Huntsville Road, where the officer saw the driver “had difficulty maintaining a straight line of travel as he was swerving in the roadway.”
The report states Flynn twice drove over the fog line and the center line. He was stopped at 1:48 a.m. near Huntsville and Happy Hollow roads, the report states.
Flynn said he had taken friends home from Dickson Street and was driving to his residence, listed as 1976 Spinel Link, No. 10, according to the report.
The officer noticed Flynn’s speech was slurred, the report states.
“He had bloodshot eyes,” the officers says in the report. “He could not find his vehicle insurance or registration. He mistakenly handed me a previous warning ticket thinking the ticket was his registration papers. He admitted to drinking two beers earlier in the night. I asked him to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Austin Flynn exhibited numerous clues consistent with an intoxicated person on the tests.”
Flynn was released from jail at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday on a $1,075 bond.
He is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and prohibited driving and having no proof of insurance, according to the report.
He is scheduled to appear in Fayetteville District Court on March 25, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website.
