A Springdale man is finally behind bars after leading three local police agencies on a high-speed chase while stealing two pickup trucks, according to the Springdale Police Department.

Steven Ray Delgadillo, 41, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of car theft, car flight, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and fleeing from authorities. He remained Friday in the Washington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Springdale police responded to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale on Thursday in reference to a call of a reckless driver at the location. A detective saw Delgadillo in a black Chevrolet pickup truck, and tried to pull him over, resulting in a high-speed chase, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police noticed the vehicle was reported stolen, and Springdale police terminated the chase around Sunset Boulevard and Thompson Street because of the danger of the high speeds, the report states.

Police later noticed the stolen truck traveling at over 100 miles per hour. Lowell police, Bethel Heights police and state troopers were all later involved in the chase, but lost track of Delgadillo, according to the preliminary report.

Officers located the vehicle about one hour later and found Delgadillo hiding between two mattresses in an apartment unit, police said.

During the course of the day, Delgadillo is accused of stealing a Ford pickup truck and a Chevrolet pickup truck.
