Winter weather sidelined buses for the Greenwood School District, administrators said Wednesday afternoon.
Administrators asked parents to pick students up at their respective schools. The district says it notified parents through text message, voicemail, and email.
“It's aggravating because they knew that this was coming in,” said Dana Mitchell, a parent. “The roads were getting slick around 1:30-2:00 this afternoon. They could have dismissed school.”
Students at Westwood Elementary School waited for their parents in the cafeteria and watched movies.
“We've been here for two hours and I'm hungry and it was kind of boring in there,” said Shyann Bates, a 5th Grader.
The assistant superintendent told 5NEWS the district apologizes to parents for the inconvenience, but student safety comes first.
