Students at Bentonville High School entered dark hallways Thursday morning after a power outage knocked out electricity in the district’s largest school.

The power went out in the North Building, according to Mary Ley with the Bentonville Public School District. Power was restored in less than an hour.

School officials say the outage created some confusion, as students using social media said classes were being cancelled.

"Students were tweeting and texting that were not having school which was never said by administration or the school but they're good about starting rumors," said Assistant Principal James Swim.

In the meantime, students who had class in the North Building were moved to the Arend Arts Center and the Commons Area as engineers worked to restore power, Ley said.
