Van Buren Detective Jonathan Wear has been selected as the city’s Officer of the Year.
Wear has been with the department since 2007.
Wear maintains records on the all the registered sex offenders in the city in addition to his duties as a detective. In addition to working as the department’s public information officer, he also investigates all domestic violence cases in the city.
Officer Steve Gunter was selected as Employee of the Year. Gunter has served as the Code Enforcement Supervisor since 2012. He has been with the city since 1999.
Because of the high profile position, Gunter works closely with the public and the Mayor’s Officer to ensure codes are properly enforced in Van Buren.
