Michael Carnes, 33, of Springdale, was sentenced to nine years in prison Monday (Feb. 25) after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a fire arm.

The sentence also comes with three years of supervised release and a $12,500 fine, according to Conner Eldridge, United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

Carnes pleaded guilty to the charge in November.

He was arrested in July during a traffic stop after offices found a handgun, a knife and $4,000. Carnes admitted to being a convicted felon, according to court documents.

The officers later searched Carnes’ residence and discovered two more firearms, methamphetamine, a drug ledger and $7,900.

Carnes was previously convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and Carrying a Prohibited Weapon out of Benton County.
