A 20-year-old Fayetteville man is facing charges after police say he raped a teen he met on Facebook.

Jose Vasquez-Ruiz was arrested Thursday (Feb. 28) on a rape charge.

Springdale Police responded to a report of a rape at a residence on Mark Street on Feb. 26, according to a police report.

The caller said she came and found her 13-year-old daughter had been raped by a man who was hiding in the bathroom. The suspect quickly left the house, according to police.

The suspect was identified as Vasquez-Ruiz and later arrested at his home in Fayetteville.

Police determined the teen had been talking to the man online and had invited him over to talk while her mother was out.

Vasquez-Ruiz was booked into to the Washington County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
