Research shows consumers struggle buying healthy foods because it's just too expensive. Walmart is teaming up with the First Lady, Michelle Obama, to bring down the costs.

Friday, the retail giant showed customers how they're working to fix the problem.

"We don't think that any of our customers should have to pay more to eat healthy, Andrea Thomas, Vice President for Sustainability said.

Some of the steps include reducing sugar and sodium in processed food.

"We are also helping them identify some of the healthier products we have with the "Great For You" icon," Thomas said.

The "Great For You" icon is in the process of being rolled out. The sticker is on some of the products now.

"By the end of summer it will be on 13,000 Great Value and Marketside items," she said.

Thomas said Walmart has really focused on the pricing of these healthy foods. In doing so, the company has actually saved customers $2.3 billion.
