Jon Woods’ Band Lands Song On “MLB 13 The Show”
Some of the most interesting chatter on social media sites on Saturday (March 2) involving a local state lawmaker had nothing to do with bills up for consideration in Little Rock.
It had to do with rock music and Sony PlayStation’s “MLB 13 The Show.”
House Speaker Davy Cater, Fayetteville Democratic campaign consultant Will Watson and other politically active Arkansans on Twitter were congratulating state Sen. Jon Woods for a recent home run by his Fayetteville-based rock band, A Good Fight. Woods, a Springdale Republican, is the band’s bass player.
The chatter on social media sites started after the band let the word out that they have landed a song, “Rips Like a Motor,” on Sony’s new sports video game officially to be released Tuesday. Here’s a link to a trailer for the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzhNBxrL3hk
According to a blogger writing about the soundtrack, A Good Fight’s song is the first on the 14-song set list featuring titles by Blink 182, Big Boi, Soundgarden, The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top.
Woods calls “Rips Like a Motor” a pop punk song, and he says the band is “humbled and excited” about it being featured on the video game.
Woods isn’t the only one buzzing about the band’s achievement. Carter, a Cabot Republican who became House speaker this year, said in a tweet, “Pretty cool, Senator. Pretty cool.”
