South Fayetteville Home Gutted By Fire

A vacant home was all but destroyed by fire Sunday night in south Fayetteville.

Fayetteville Fire Department responded to the fire at 1717 South Stirman Ave. shortly after 6 p.m. The single-story house sustained significant damage but no one was injured.

Fire officials on the scene said the outside structure was still standing but the interior of the house was completely gone.

Family members said the the house used to be their grandmother's home before she passed away. They believed the home was used by homeless people in the area.

The cause of the fire was unknown. The fire marshal was investigating.
