County deputies caught up to a West Helena man they say robbed two Springdale men at gunpoint last year.

Traviel Morant, 23, was arrested late Monday night on suspicion of aggravated residential burglary, aggravated robbery, theft of property, kidnapping and interfering with emergency communications. He remained Tuesday in the Washington County Detention Center on $100,000 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Washington County deputies said Morant and three other men broke into a Springale apartment last August, stealing $100, a cell phone, a beard trimmer, a metal bat and five baseball caps. A Hispanic man forced his way into the alleged victims’ home and was followed inside by three black men with guns, according to a an arrest warrant affidavit from the Washington County Circuit Court.

The victims were held against their will at gunpoint in the home while the suspects stole items from a bedroom, the affidavit states.

Deputies said that during the suspected burglary, one of the victims tried to grab a gun from one of the suspects, but was instead struck in the head. The suspects left the home and the alleged victims went to the Springdale Police Department to report the burglary, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

Two of the suspects had been arrested before Morant, telling deputies Morant took part in the suspected burglary, the affidavit states. The suspects also told investigators Kiaunce Trentwoin Holiday was involved in the alleged armed robbery.
