Police took a man into custody after they say he was involved in a shooting that brought a SWAT team and deputies to a Lowell apartment complex.

Lowell Police responded to a report of a man who may have fired a gun late Monday night at The Links apartment complex, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Someone near the scene told police he heard what he believed to be three shotgun blasts come from inside an apartment located on Birdie Lane, according to the Lowell Police Department.

The same person also told police he tried to make contact with the resident and saw a shotgun.

Police evacuated two buildings in the complex and secured the area.

“There was no evidence he fired a gun,” said Major Shawn Holloway with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Holloway said Benton County assisted the Lowell Police Department with deputies to secure the perimeter, and with Benton County SWAT negotiators.

Holloway said shortly after deputies arrived, the man who was inside allegedly with a gun came out without further incident. He was placed into custody, and the investigation remains active, according to the Lowell Police Department.

There were no reported injuries.
