Alma Falls in Final Seconds at State Championship

The final shot did not fall, and the Alma Airedales were sent home in heartbreak.

Alma  was not expected by many to make the 5A State Championship game Friday night, but the Airedales put on a show with Jacksonville, losing 56-53.

Alma had a chance in the final seconds to tie the game but the shot would not fall.

The Airedales and Jacksonville battled back and forth in the first half. Alma trailed by three at halftime, 24-21.

In the third quarter the game looked like it was slipping away. Alma got down 46-37 after three but battled back in the fourth cutting the lead to one possession multiple times.
