A Fayetteville senior care employee was arrested Thursday after police say he broke into an elderly man’s home and stole $900 while acting as the man’s senior care assistant.

Wilburn Lewis Norris, 51, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of residential burglary. He remained Friday in the Washington County Detention Center on $3,500 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Norris works at ELDirect In-Home Senior Care in Fayetteville. Police said Norris was caught on camera breaking into the home of an elderly man on North Taliesin Lane. The cameras were set up after another in-home health care assistant noticed money missing from the elderly man’s home, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Norris admitted to stealing the money, in an interview with detectives, according to the preliminary report.

Norris’ employment status at the senior care center is unknown at this time.
