Shooting

A 29-year-old Springdale man, who police said, was shot in the right leg Saturday (March 9) remains in the Northwest Medical Center. He’s listed in good condition.

Antonio Jimenez was shot once in his right knee and told 5NEWS over the weekend that doctors had not removed the bullet. Jimenez said he was shot near Garnett Road in Springdale.

A 911 call was placed at 1:26 a.m. from a residence on Purple Martin Drive after the caller said a woman had come to her house and asked her to report a shooting. Police responded to the address and found Jimenez sitting in a car in front of the mobile home with a gunshot wound and a laceration.

According to police, Jimenez drove there after the incident occurred to get his co-worker to take him to the hospital.

Jimenez told 5NEWS he was attacked, punched at least twice in the face, shot in the leg and his wallet was stolen. He told the police he was in a car at the intersection of Dodd and Scottsdale when he was attacked.

Jimenez told 5NEWS that the pain and shock of the shooting has clouded his memory of the incident.

“The doctors haven’t been able to remove the bullet from my knee,” Jimenez said. “I’m in a lot of pain.”

Rocio Hernandez lives on the street where the shooting happened and said she didn’t know and knows the family who lives in that house.

“It’s surprising because I was here and I have my daughters,” said Hernandez.

During the course of the initial investigation, police went to the home on Garnett Road and found blood in the driveway, according to police. Blood and broken glass was found in the residence, police said. Officers determined the incident happened inside the home and said it appears more than one gunshot was fired.

The Springdale Police Criminal Investigation Division is working on the case and haven’t made any arrests.
