An announcement was made over the intercom system after police and school officials cleared the building and found no threat around 1:30 p.m.
School officials are calling the incident a "copycat" of the bomb threat made at Van Buren High School on Wednesday. A note was left on a bathroom wall indicating there was a bomb in the north wing of the building. VBHS was evacuated and classes were dismissed early.
The following statement was released by the Alma School District Thursday shortly before noon: "AHS Students have been moved to the football visitor bleachers due to a copycat bomb threat. All students are safe and officials are investigating the situation. We expect students to safely return to the building soon."
Students were evacuated for almost two hours.
All parents were notified of the bomb threat through the school's Emergency Notification System, according to Lauren Schlabach, the school district's communications assistant.
