Arkansas was 18-1 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville but that couldn’t help the Razorbacks advance in the SEC Tournament.

The Razorbacks miss 14 free throws and were just 4-of-16 from 3-point range as Vanderbilt posted a 75-72 win.

Vanderbilt will face Kentucky on Friday (March 15). Arkansas must now wait and see if they are invited to play in the postseason.

BJ Young scored 16 points while Marshawn Powell added in the losing effort. Rod Odom led all scorers with 20 points for Vanderbilt while Kyle Fuller added 19 off the bench.

The Commodores knocked down 12-of-28 3-pointers but were just 11-of-29 inside the arc and 17-of-30 from the charity stripe. Arkansas missed 14 of 34 free throws.

The Razorbacks trailed 70-61 with 3:20 remaining but ended the game with flurry. Arkansas scored seven straight points to get within two but they could not take advantage of a Vanderbilt turnover with 35 seconds left. Powell corraled an ill-advised pass but hit the underside of the basket with a layup attempt.

Vanderbilt made a pair of free throws but Arkansas could not answer as Young missed a pair with 13 seconds left.
