A Benton County man is in custody after a SWAT teamed responded to his house Thursday afternoon.
A deputy went to the home of Mark Swieter, 53, to serve a warrant to the suspect for domestic battery and false imprisonment. While being served the warrant, Swieter ran back into the house and said he would not be taken alive, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
A few hours into the standoff, a SWAT team loaded up with shields outside of the house at 9819 Stoney Hollow Road, just outside of Rogers, at about 6 p.m. SWAT team members then entered the home and arrested Swieter, who had a shotgun on him, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office sent a communication robot into the house to make contact with the standoff suspect shortly after 6 p.m.
The warrant originally being served to Swieter stemmed from earlier this week when the suspect’s wife told authorities Swieter held her against her will. She filed an order of protection against Swieter after the incident, said Lt. Randy Allsop with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
