A local organization took advantage of the St. Patrick’s Day parade on Dickson Street on Saturday (March 16) to help raise money for children’s charities.

The event featured Irish music, food and beer and was hosted by the Northside Rotary Club at the Garden Room. The club raised money for charities such as the Children’s Safety Center and the E-O-A Children’s House.

“Before, we’ve always done things to raise money but we wanted to do a fundraiser that was also community oriented and try to find a way to celebrate what happens in Fayetteville,” said organizer Angie Albright. “So we thought a parade and then an evening event would be a great idea.”

St. Patrick’s Day is officially Sunday and events will continue. The seventh annual St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl begins at 6 p.m. and goes until 11 and will have live events and concert.
