5NEWS, which is broadcast on KFSM-TV and KXNW-TV, is looking for an energetic and experienced Executive Producer.
Qualified candidates will have at least three years of television producing, or news management experience. Applicants must be excellent newscast producers and writers. The Executive Producer must be able to craft shows and mentor young producers. They must also be able to copy edit and proofread reporter scripts, produce specials, work with weather, sports and other departments to produce quality news content.
The Executive Producer is also responsible for operating within the news strategic operating plan that is put into place by the News Director, and must be able to motivate and coach news personnel to perform at top levels. This is a news leadership position and the right candidate must be able to manage stressful and time sensitive situations.
Core Job Functions:
• Supervise all newscasts and day-to-day news operations.
• Manage rundowns, graphics and special projects.
• Under the direction of the News Director, supervises all producers and other personnel assigned.
• Responsible for the visual elements and accuracy of all news products.
• Works closely with the Managing Editor in determining efficient scheduling and planning for news coverage.
• Recommend candidates for hiring in the News Department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
Experience in supervising professional news staff and in gathering and reporting news. Must be able to drive a vehicle. Ability to operate PC, word processor, and editing equipment. Knowledge of what is required to produce multiple fast-paced newscasts daily. Command of the language. Must possess a valid State Driver’s License (or be able to get one).
Requirements:
A degree is preferred and at least three years’ work experience in news. Management experience is a big plus.
Dexterity to operate PC, telephone, editing equipment, etc. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as required, of materials consisting of tapes, reference material, etc. Ability to communicate in office settings using telephone, radio, intercom, direct in person contact and other such means. Vision to view and produce newscasts.
