Springdale Sex Offender Arrested In Child Porn Case

Police arrested a Springdale sex offender Thursday after seizing his computer in a child pornography investigation last year.

Anthony Yager, 49, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of child pornography. He remains in the Washington County Detention Center, where he will be transferred to federal court in Fayetteville.

Springdale police seized Yager’s computer from his home on Peach Blossom Avenue in November during a child pornography investigation. Investigators analyzed Yager’s computer and determined it contained child pornography, police said.

The Gomez family lives next door to Yager. The mom Sarahi Gomez said they moved in five month ago.

“We’re worried because we have two kids and just having him as a next door neighbor, it’s just hard for us,” Gomez said. “If he ever comes back or if something happens, he could do something to our kids.”

Lt. Derek Hudson said Springdale detective took Yager’s computer in November 2012.

“They did a forensic exam on the computer and uncovered enough evidence to forward that to the U.S. District’s Attorney’s Office,” Hudson said.

Brian King who lives in front of Yager’s house said he sees small children play outside often.

“There are tons of kids out here, so if there’s a sex offender it would behoove them to let us know so that we can take precautions,” King said.

Yager is a registered sex offender.
