Authorities in Northwest Arkansas are searching for a suspect they say wants to die by suicide-by-cop, law enforcement in Washington and Benton counties said Thursday night.

The man, possibly in his 50s, was likely driving a black Dodge pickup truck or a red Chrysler Concord car. Police said he was driving from Rogers to Siloam Springs and was planning on a deadly showdown with police Thursday night.

All area law enforcement are on alert for the suspect, according to Rogers and Siloam Springs police.

The alert went out at about 7:30 p.m. A few hours later, police updated their search, saying they are not actively searching for the suspect, but had a bulletin out for him in case he was stopped by an officer.
