An official at the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling says the panel received an application for a counselor's license from Angela Hurt Imhoff.

5NEWS obtained a letter from a child protection agency stating that the woman is an intern at the Joshua Center in Fayetteville and the letter informs the board she is a registered sex offender.

According to the Joshua Center website, it counsels people with depression, marital difficulties, and sexual brokenness.

Court documents and news accounts in 2008 show the woman was convicted of felony statutory rape and felony statutory sodomy in Springfield, Missouri with a 15-year-old male.

Documents state she was sentenced to five years in prison, which was reduced to five years supervised probation.

Dr. Alan Pogue at the Arkansas Board of Examiners in counseling, says for a person to get a license there`s an extensive process including a background check and the Attorney General will advise the board whether they can issue the license.

Officials say there are certain exemptions to working at place like the Joshua Center without a license, including allowing students in training under the jurisdiction of a school.

We tried contacting Hurt Imhoff, but were unable to reach her. We also tried reaching officials at the Joshua Center, our phone calls were never returned.

News accounts say the woman was a church youth leader in Missouri during the time of the relationship with the boy.
