Looking for a new house? You can tour several on the market this week in the River Valley.

The Greater Fort Smith Association of Home Builders annual Spring Parade of Homes kicked off Saturday, April 6. Homes are open for tours each day from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 14.

The parade features homes priced from $126,000 to $379,000. Homes are located throughout Fort Smith, Van Buren, Hackett, Lavaca and Alma.

The home with the highest price tag can be found in the Reata subdivision in Fort Smith. Realtor Monica Ibison said the buyer of the home will get their money's worth.

"You get upgraded fixtures, appliances, true wood floors, central vac and security system," said Ibison. "All those extra things that you're looking for in a custom home that's already built for you."

The four bedroom, four bathroom home sits on just over an acre of land with a wooded view. Ibison says one of the greatest features in the home is the "bonus" room.

"550 square feet with a great closet, with a full bath," she said. "So it could be a guest suite. It could be an entertainment room, media room, kids room."

For shoppers on a budget, realtor Richard Hood is showing homes on the south side of Fort Smith near Cavanaugh Road and Highway 271 with the lowest listed price.

Hood says five of the three bedroom, two bathroom homes are under construction. They plan to build 12 homes on the block ending in a cul-de-sac.

Since the homes are still a work in progress, Hood says buyers have the benefit of customizing paint colors, appliances and flooring.

The vice president of the association, Chuck Fawcett, says the parade has gotten a great response from the public.

"We've had just an unbelievable amount of traffic of people looking at all the subdivisions," he said.
