Four vehicles collided on North Crossover during Wednesday (April 10) morning traffic, with only minor injuries, said Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout.
The four vehicles rear-ended and sideswiped each other near the intersection of East Par Court.
Dawn Edwards said it wasn`t the rain or the slick roads that caused the crash.
”Due to the road construction, my tire hit the little edge that’s on the road and it threw my car into another SUV totaling my car and three other cars,” Edwards said.
Edwards said she was headed south on Crossover Rd. when her front passenger side tire hit the curb. She overcorrected and that's when she said she slammed into this white Lexus SUV that was driving the opposite direction.
”When I went to stop after trying to not do any more damage than it did, another car rear-ended me then another car rear-ended that car,” said Edwards.
She told 5NEWS that seatbelts saved both her and her daughter's life.
”Luckily, we had our seatbelts on," Edwards said. "From what I hear, everybody had their seatbelts on. As hard as we hit, it would probably have thrown us through the windshield.”
And while only minor injuries were reported Edwards said she is still shaken up.
”Terrified," she said. "I had my 8-year-old daughter in the car and the gentleman had his little 6 month old baby in his and they took one lady to the hospital.”
For a short time a section of the road was completely blocked, but it has since reopened.
Central EMS transported one person, Stout said.
The call came in to the Fayetteville police dispatch at 6:44 a.m.
The scene cleared just after 8 a.m.
