Despite Cold Weather FLW Pro-Anglers have Good Day at Beaver Lake

After Day one of the FLW Tour at Beaver Lake, Drew Benton of Panama City leads the field of 160 pro-anglers.

The first day of the FLW Tour at Beaver Lake has come to an end.  The morning started off with some snow fall and temperatures in the thirties.  As the day progressed the sun came out and temperatures rose to about 50 degrees.  With such drastic weather conditions the anglers didn't know what to expect out on the water.

"Anytime you have a major cold front like that it's going to affect the fishing a little bit," said Bentonville Native Greg Bohannan. "It was tough today. I've been getting a lot of bites but today I didn't get nearly as many."

Despite the weather conditions day one weigh-in's saw high weights.  Leading the field of 160 Pro-Anglers was Drew Benton of Panama City, Florida.  His bass weight totaled 18 pounds 1 ounce.  Rounding out the top five were:

2nd Place: Brandon Coulter, Knoxville, Tennessee (17lbs 3oz)

3rd Place: Randy Blaukat, Joplin, Missouri (17lbs 0oz)

4th Place: Ryan Chandler, Valparaiso, Indiana (16lbs 11oz)

5th Place: Barry Wilson, Birmingham, Alabama (16lbs 11oz)

The results were much higher then Pro-Angler Jimmy Houston expected.

"We actually caught them relatively easy today which to be honest was a surprise to me," said Houston.  "I think it will be difficult tomorrow.  I've fished in muddy water but its clearing up everyday I will probably have more trouble with the clear water then the cold weather."

The anglers will get back onto the water tomorrow at 7:00am.
