Fort Smith police arrested a man wanted in connection with a generator theft.

On Saturday (April 27) someone recognized Christopher Lee Fitzgerald, 26, from a Crime Stoppers report and called police.

Fitzgerald was inside the Sears at Central Mall. Police say he initially lied about who he was when confronted, but was later arrested and charged with public intoxication, obstructing governmental operations and an outstanding felony theft by receiving warrant.

Fitzgerald was wanted in connection with a generator theft reported at Atwoods on April 6. He is also considered a person of interest in multiple theft cases from businesses in Fort Smith and Van Buren, according to police.
