Early Friday (April 26) Bentonville Police chased a man after they say fired shots into Bentley's Private Club after hours.

At 3:43 a.m., the club manager called 911 and reported shots gunshots at the club at 911 Southeast 28th Street. The business was closed at the time, but the manager was there.

Within two minutes of the call to the police, an officer was there, and witnessed more shots being fired into the business, Bentonville Police Chief Jon Simpson said. The shooter immediately ran from the scene, and jumped into a car, but after a short car chase, the man was arrested.

The suspected shooter was identified as Kevin Hayes, 40, of Bentonville.

During the chase, one gun was thrown from the car, but was later found: a second gun was found inside the suspect's car.

The preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was the result of a disagreement that happened earlier when Hayes was asked to leave the club after he allegedly caused a disturbance.

At least five shotgun rounds were fired into the business at close range, Chief Simpson said. The rounds penetrated the structure causing significant damage to both inside and outside of the business. No one was injured.

Hayes is currently in custody at the Bentonville Police Department and will be transported to the Benton County Jail with orders to hold for a bond and a probable cause hearing for multiple offenses, including the commission of a terroristic act, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, fleeing and DWI.
