Wilson Drafted By Oakland; Two More Razorbacks Selected

Former Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson was selected in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL Draft, 112th overall to the Oakland Raiders.

Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders on Saturday.

Wilson passed for 7,765 yards and 52 touchdowns and set 29 school records in his Razorbacks career. The Raiders used the 112th overall pick on Wilson, who was the sixth quarterback taken during the three-day, seven-round draft.

Arkansas receiver Cobi Hamilton was selected by Cincinnati in the sixth round, 197th overall, and tight end Chris Gragg was chosen by Buffalo in the seventh round, 222nd overall. Three Razorbacks were selected Saturday, joining running back Knile Davis, who was picked by Kansas City in the third round Friday.

Also, four Razorbacks signed free-agent contracts after going undrafted. Running back Ronnie Wingo signed with Atlanta, linebackers Alonzo Highsmith signed with Miami, defensive back Ross Rasner signed with Denver and running back Dennis Johnson signed with Houston.

Arkansas is only one of two schools to have two quarterbacks drafted in the last three years. Ryan Mallett was selected in the third round in 2011. Wilson is the fifth Hog quarterback ever to be drafted in the first four rounds.

Wilson graduated from Greenwood High School in 2008. He led the Bulldogs to back-to-back State Championships in 2006 and 2007.

Wilson will battle with Terrelle Pryor to play back-up to Oakland starter Matt Flynn who was just traded from the Seattle Seahawks. The Raiders don't have any quarterbacks with real starter experience, so there is a possibility of seeing playing time in the near future. Matt Leinart is also an unrestricted free agent with the Raiders.
