RAZORBACK

Arkansas baseball won the series with the Kentucky Wildcats on the road over the weekend, but they come back to Fayetteville with a bitter taste in their mouth.

Arkansas was just one out away from completing the sweep when Kentucky rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth in game two of a double header Saturday.

With two out and runners on the corners, Matt Reida hit a grounder to second that was booted by Jordan Farris and went into shallow left field, allowing one run to score and putting runners on the corners. Leadoff hitter Kyle Barrett then lined a single to score the game-tying run. Zac Zellers brought home the game-winning run with a single to right-center to give Kentucky a 4-3 win.

Jacob Mahan had two hits and drove in a run to lead Arkansas at the plate. Tyler Spoon also drove in a run, while Brian Anderson, Joe Serrano and Matt Vinson each had a hit and a run scored.

Earlier in game one Arkansas used two big home runs to beat Kentucky 5-3. Tyler Spoon hit a two-run shot in the first, giving the Hogs a 2-0 lead. Brian Anderson continued the momentum with his own two-run homer in the third.

Ryne Stanek (6-2) earned the win after giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out four in 5.1 innings.

Colby Suggs entered the game in the ninth inning and picked up his sixth straight save.

The Hogs will host their last home series of the year next weekend against Tennessee.
