Suspect Takes Off After Car Break-In Confrontation

Fort Smith Police are searching for a man who tried to break into a car overnight.

Sergeant Schafer with the Fort Smith Police Department said 911 dispatchers received a call around midnight Tuesday about a car break-in at 1815 North J Street.

The man told police he spotted a man trying to break into his car and tackled him to the ground to stop him.

The suspect took off from the scene before police arrived.  He is described as a young Hispanic man last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
