Customers and employees at a Walmart and Harps in Huntsville were evacuated early Wednesday night when a Freon leak covered the air in smoke at the Harps on Lee Street, according to responders on the scene.

A leak near the coolers in the back of the Harps store caused emergency crews to tape off the store and its parking lot. The leak is no longer active because it ran out of Freon, according to authorities on-scene.

No one was injured, and the Harps will be closed for the rest of the night. Workers are fixing the leak and expect the store to open back up Thursday, according to an employee.

The Walmart next door was evacuated as a precaution, but the store later re-opened.

Firefighters donned Hazardous Materials gear when they entered the building. Huntsville, Alabam and Smyrna fire departments responded to the call.
