A River Valley man was sentenced to two life-terms in prison Thursday (May 16) for the deaths of his elderly parents.

Last month Kevin Paul Statham pleaded no contest to two counts of first-degree murder in a deal with prosecutors. Statham shot and killed his mother Helen and father Paul at their Bokoshe home in July 2011 before running off to North Dakota.

The two sentences will run consecutively and he will not be eligible for parole, according to Marion Fry, First Assistant District Attorney in LeFlore County.

Statham was also ordered to pay fines and restitution for funeral expenses for his parents, Fry said.

Statham will remain in the LeFlore County Jail until he’s transferred to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
