Pointers Preaching Effort In Spring Drills

Pointers wrap up spring drills; Effort was point of emphasis

Van Buren has it's work cut out in the 2013 season.

The Pointers play in the always tough 7A-West and the lack of size doesn't help matters much.

"We're not the biggest team so coach is wanting us to go hard every single play, out work every one," Senior quarterback Brad Leyeversole said. "Try to out work everyone every single play."

Progress was made on both sides of the football in the 10 spring practices and defensive end Cameron Farrow likes what he saw from his team.

"I think defense and offense both did really well," Farrow said. "Defense made big plays. Offense made big plays. We have a long ways to go. It's just spring ball but I'm looking forward to a good season. We are looking pretty good."

Van Buren kicks off the 2013 season on Sept. 6th against Alma in the "Battle of the Bone".

"We just tried to coach up the effort part and I think our guys did a good job," Van Buren coach Brooks Coatney said following the Green-White game Thursday. "We had a great night, nice and cool. It's a good way to wrap up spring."
