For the first time in school history the University of Central Arkansas is going to the NCAA baseball tournament.
The Bears capped off a Southland Conference tournament championship with a 4-0 win against Southeastern Louisiana Saturday night in Sugar Land, Texas.
Freshman pitcher Connor Gilmore threw a two hit, complete game shutout for UCA to pick up the win.
UCA (39-20) lost in the opening round of the Southland Conference tournament but reeled off five straight wins in the past three days. The Bears beat Oral Roberts University 11-3 earlier today to reach the championship game.
The Bears struck first in the third inning as they scored three runs in small ball fashion. UCA scored on a wild pitch, a bases loaded walk and a sacrifice fly.
The regional pairings will be announced at 11 a.m. on Monday. Regional host sites will be announced Sunday night.
UCA has wins against Kansas, Oklahoma State and a pair of wins against Mississippi State on their résumé.
