A young boy was hospitalized Wednesday when authorities said he jumped off the roof of a Springdale elementary school.
Emergency crews responded to a call of a seven-year-old boy jumping off of the Jones Elementary roof just before 5:30 p.m., according to Springdale police. Crews from the Springdale Fire Department responded to the non-life-threatening leg injury and transported him to the hospital.
Several children appeared to be playing on the roof of the school, then fled when police arrived, said Derek Hudson with the Springdale Police Department. The children jumped off of the roof to evade police, but one was injured, according to the Springdale fire and police departments.
The child was conscious and breathing while being transported to the hospital, Hudson said.
