Shortly before 1 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Sequoyah County with dangerous rotation sighted near Gore, Okla. The storms later weakened and the warning was downgraded to a severe storm warning.
After the storm went through multiple power lines and trees were knocked down near Sallisaw, Okla. as straight line winds hit the area, according to Sequoyah County dispatchers. The majority of the damage was near Dwight Mission Road between Vian and Sallisaw.
Dispatchers with the Vian Police Department also said there were reports of power lines down near Union Pacific at Key Hill.
"I went out there a little while ago after I got off of work and there was probably 3 or 4 foot around trees laying across the road, powerlines are down and a trailer house just passed my house that was picked up and set back on the ground," said Rick Robertson, who lives in Sequoyah County. "It didn't turn it over it just moved it over a little bit."
The Sequoyah County Commissioner was planning to survey the damage Thursday morning, according to Vian PD dispatchers.
There were also reports of a double trailer getting lifted up in the air off its foundation during the storm. Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said he is working with the National Weather Service to determine if the damage was from straight line winds or a tornado.
In Northwest Arkansas some viewers told 5NEWS they saw damage in between West Fork and Winslow. Photos sent in showed trees had been snapped in half from the storms.
