Another music festival hits Mulberry Mountain in Franklin County.

Thunder on the Mountain kicked off Thursday (June 6) and wraps up Saturday. The country music event comes on the heels of the annual Wakarusa Festival that ended June 2.

Arkansas State Police and Franklin County Sheriff deputies are patrolling the area as country music fans started rolling in.

“This is all new to us, a whole different crowd of people so we are not sure what to expect but hopefully everything will go smooth,” said Anthony Boen, Franklin County Sheriff.

Boen said he doesn’t expect a lot of people to camp at this event so, that means there will be a lot more traffic on the narrow and windy roads on Mulberry Mountain, which is a concern for law enforcement.

“Probably the only difference we are going to see is a lot more traffic on the road.  There are not as many campers as with Wakarusa so, therefore they're going to be going back and forth,” said Boen.

For more information about tickets and artists performing visit the Thunder on the Mountain website.
