Colby Suggs Taken 73rd Overall in 2nd Round of MLB Draft

Suggs set the Arkansas single-season record for saves with 13 during the 2013 season.

Arkansas closer Colby Suggs was selected by the Miami Marlins in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Drafted on Thursday night with the 73rd overall pick.

Suggs was not drafted out of high school and in his three years with the Razorbacks left his mark. He set the Arkansas single-season record for saves with 13 during the 2013 season.

In 20.2 innings, he allowed four runs on 10 hits, all singles, and struck out 29 batters. Suggs closed the season by having a scoreless outing in 17 of his final 18 appearances.

In addition to Suggs and fellow pitcher Ryne Stanek getting drafted on Thursday, Arkansas signee Teddy Stankiewicz was also picked in the second round by the Boston Red Sox with the 45th overall pick.

The 2013 MLB Draft continues on Friday and Saturday at 12 p.m. Friday will feature rounds 3-10 with rounds 11-40 scheduled for Saturday. More Hogs are expected to come off the board.
