The incident reportedly happened at a home Saturday (June 8) afternoon, according to a report from KTHV. A police report states the boy was upset and crying. While the woman he was staying with tried to calm him down, the dog came from another room and attacked the child. She tried to pull the dog off of the child but was unsuccessful.
He later died at a hospital.
The boy was staying with family friends in Jessieville after his hometown of Moore, Okla., was hit by a tornado on May 20, the Garland County Animal Control said.
According to reports, the dog ran away after the attack.
