Work is underway to expand a River Valley food distribution company.
City, county and state officials gathered at Tankersley Foodservice in Van Buren on Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the beginning of a $4 million plant expansion.
This will include the addition of 28,000 sq/ft of freezer space, new customer service offices and a new refrigerated dock.
Tankersley Foodservice was recently named the 2013 Arkansas Business of the Year, and the company's CEO, Don Tankersley, said they've got even bigger plans for the future.
"This won't be our last expansion, hopefully. We should be through this expansion in October, but our plans are to keep this thing going, growing, keep growing you know," Tankersley said.
Tankersley Foodservice currently ships about 100,000 cases of food each week, but the new expansion should bring that number closer to 130,000.
