Stanek, Oberste Honored By Baseball America

Both named second team All-Americans by Baseball America

Arkansas pitcher Ryne Stanek and Oklahoma first baseman Matt Oberste were both named to the second team All-American team today by Baseball America.

Stanek had a 10-2 record during his junior season for the Razorbacks while posting a 1.39 ERA in 97 innings. Stanek was drafted with the 29th pick in last week’s Major League Baseball draft by Tampa Bay.

Oberste, a Sallisaw native, led Oklahoma to a super regional berth and finished his junior season hitting .376 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI. Oberste was drafted in the seventh round by the New York Mets. Oklahoma pitcher Jonathan Gray was named a first team All-American.

Central Arkansas’ Forrestt Allday was named to the third team after hitting .365 and leading the Bears to their first ever NCAA tournament berth. Allday drove in 36 runs and stole 15 bases.
