Grammy Award-winning artists Maxwell, Estelle, Trey Songz and Hezekiah Walker will headline ‘The Road to Essence Festival,’ a free concert sponsored by Walmart, Friday (June 14).

The concert starts at 6 p.m. at Orchards Park in Bentonville.

The event is part of Walmart’s efforts to promote racial and cultural diversity in the area, as well as provide local families with entertainment options without having to travel to other cities.

Maxwell won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2010 for “Pretty Wings,” a tribute to Michael Jackson. He was also popular in the 90s with hits like “Fortunate,” which was recognized as the Best R&B Single of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards in 1999. He most recently collaborated with Alicia Keys on “Fire We Make.”

In 2009, London-born Estelle won the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her song “American Boy” with rapper Kanye West.

Rapper Trey Songz is known for his sultry lyrics and collaborations with artists like Drake and Fabolous. His most recent album Chapter V was released last year featuring the hit “Heart Attack.” The rapper was recently named a nominee for the Choice R&B Artist award at the Teen Choice Awards which airs in August.

Hezekiah Walker is a Grammy-award winning gospel singer, pastor and founder of the Love Fellowship Choir.

The Road to Essence series is intended to build excitement in the weeks leading up to the annual Essence Music Festival event from July 4-7 in New Orleans.
