A motorcyclist was hospitalized and two people were cited after police say a woman’s car collided with a motorcycle in western Fayetteville on Tuesday afternoon.

Clarence Hutchens, 19, of Bella Vista, was westbound on Wedington Drive in Fayetteville, while Summer Shankle, 36, of Fayetteville was getting ready to turn left on a solid green light.

Shankle turned her Honda Accord, and Hutchens’ Kawasaki motorcycle, traveling in a different direction, clipped the back end of the car, causing Hutchens to crash, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. and transported Hutchens to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hutchens mostly suffered road rash from the wreck, police said.

Shankle was cited on suspicion of failure to yield, while Hutchens was cited on suspicion of lack of motorcycle endorsement.

The crash temporarily stopped westbound traffic on Wedington while police and emergency crews responded.
