A Thursday night shooting in Springdale left one man with wounds to his leg and head and another man in custody.

Police responded to a reported fight involving several Hispanic males near the 600 block of Linda Street at about 9:30 p.m. (June 20). The victim, 29-year-old Norman Centeno, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was grazed in the head, according to Springdale police.

Officers responded to an area on Savage Street around the same time to a man witnesses said was running around with a gun on the next street over. Brian Vital, 22, who was hiding in a garage, was taken into custody. He may face at least an aggravated assault charge, for allegedly threatening neighbors on Savage Street with a gun.

Police suspect he is connected to the Linda Street shooting. Vital is being interviewed by detectives.

Police collected a .357-caliber handgun from the suspect, said Lt. Kenneth Church.

Centeno, who was allegedly drunk, told police two men fired at him. The victim said he fired back, but no shell casings were found, according to police.

The victim was transported by emergency crews to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale with non-life-threatening injuries, Church said.

Conner Underwood lives in the neighborhood and said he was walking home from the park when he saw a man holding a gun nearby.

Underwood saw the man fire three or four shots, he told 5NEWS. Underwood ran with his friend to safety and called police, he said.

"I was pretty jumpy," Underwood said. "This is the first time this has happened here."
