Springdale police are investigating a drive-by shooting early Monday (June 24) at a residence in the 1500 block of Butterfield Coach Road.

Four children were asleep in the house when bullets shattered a front window, family members said.

The family said they are related to a suspect in a beating police said happened June 19 at the Brookhaven Apartments.

Police said no criminal suspects were in the home at the time of the shooting.

"We want to make sure to make it clear that no one who was in the home is associated with the crime or that we believe is a suspect to any crime other than just being related to the suspects, so that's definitely something we are looking at," Lt. Derek Hudson, police spokesman, said.

A woman called police just before 3 a.m., reporting shots fired outside her home. Police found bullet holes in the windows of the home and her vehicle out front.

"Police officers arrived and found the same several bullet holes and then some marks in the interior walls and entertainment center where the bullets had penetrated the windows," Hudson said.

No one was injured in the shooting.

"Our windows face the road, so it's not a very comfortable feeling at all," said Christa Petronella who lives on the same street.

Police said no suspects or vehicles were seen outside the home at the time of the shooting.

"It's kind of freaky because it's only four houses does the road, and I'm here with two kids. They're babies, and I wouldn't want anything to happen to them because something happened four houses down," Petronella said.

Detectives will continue to follow leads and conduct interviews.

"We want to talk to as many people as we can, neighbors, businesses, and looking at surveillance cameras," Hudson said. "There are so many things that we can follow up on and run down."
